Grassland Meats is an operation created and managed by brother and sister Joe and Paula Gilvesy, and now represents the “ready to eat” division of Y U Ranch. At Grassland Meats, making extraordinary food and snacks in a sustainable manner is our passion. The basis of all our products is Y U Ranch Grass Fed Beef which we carefully craft into various mouthwatering creations. Y U Ranch beef, from Texas Longhorn Cattle, is fed only on grass and hay instead of grains, and is not fed antibiotics or administered with hormones. This ensures that when you take a bite into one of our products you are getting some of the best beef available.
Together, we sell and distribute various innovative meat products such as our own Grassland Meats Beef Jerky, Spicy Beef Pepperettes and Jumbo Frankfurters. Our products are made with the environment and consumer health in mind, and have had countless hours of work put into making them the best possible products we could offer.
We began in 2012 making homemade beef jerky in our kitchen using beef raised on our home ranch. In a short period of time, our jerky was in such demand by friends and family we realized the potential of marketing our product to the general public. We believe that this quality of beef not only tastes better, but also inspires you to look at your food differently.

Our grass fed Beef jerky perfectly blends together a sweet savory flavour, with a smouldering spiciness that pleasantly builds as you eat. Our jerky comes in 50 gram packages that are vacuum-sealed and ready to eat.
Dried in a smoker for several hours, our beef pepperettes are packed with a perfect balance of spice and flavour that is sure to please. Vacuum-sealed and ready to eat, our pepperettes are a convenient snack for any occasion.
Staying true to tradition, our classic frankfurters bring some of the best beef and seasoning to a familiar and tasty product.
Grassland Meats is a family operation, created and managed by sister and brother team Paula and Joe Gilvesy. Starting out as an afternoon project to make homemade beef jerky, Paula and Joe managed to successfully make a product that was delicious and simple. Encouraged by their friends and family, they decided to take their products to the next level. Grassland Meats are now professionally produced to Grassland Meats specifications by provincially inspected artisans at Townsend Butcher and VG Meats, both in the Simcoe area.
Paula: Director Marketing, Creative and Business Development – a student at Western University in London, her role includes business planning, branding and logo design, compliance, marketing and sales.
Joseph: Director Recipes, Product Development and Distribution - a student at his local high school, is more the recipe developer playing a large role in distribution and sales of Grassland Meats products.
